What I Say:
There isn’t a great deal to differentiate this title from numerous other JRPGs out there. You are a Demon Lord. After almost being killed in battle, you awake in a weakened state in an odd world and need to build your strength back up. You do this by being wielded by various characters that you meet along the way (think Xenoblade here). As you go through this process you learn more and more about the world you now inhabit.
Combat more-or-less boils down to picking the right weapon (sword, axe or lance) and mashing the ‘Y’ button. Battles are 2D and tend towards the repetitive. You level up by both battling and by improving your weapons and skills.
There is also a non-gender locked basic dating mechanic.
One final thing worth mentioning is that the Deluxe Edition includes quite a few very powerful and almost game-breaking items which are immediately available to you. For a more challenging experience, if I ever replay this title, I’ll specifically avoid using these items.
