Publisher: Top Hat Studios
What I Paid: $3.30
Verdict: Not Shovelware. 100%ed it.
What I Say:
This is best described as a hybrid hidden object puzzle game and a point and click adventure with several unusual (and ultimately very annoying) mechanics.
The overall plot is pretty banal: the baddie wants to catch you and you want to save the world; barely enough plot to keep you moving forwards through the story.
Progressing in the story requires you to;
a) find an object you need to work to progress the story (eg a door or a flower)
b) find the hidden objects that will enable you to pass the obstacle
c) rinse and repeat
The game quickly becomes annoying because there are many obvious objects on the screen to select, but you can’t select them until you find the underlying object that needs the hidden objects. This means there is a massive amount of random clicking and back and forth travel to enable the story to progress. To make matters worse, the hidden objects are sometimes REALLY hard to find and sometimes they don’t appear until you progress the story.
Minigames pepper the story’s progress and mostly these are quite difficult and many are a chore to complete. Fortunately they are eventually skippable.
