Publisher: LeonardoInteractive
What I Paid: $7.50
Verdict: Not Shovelware.
What I Say:
Dry Drowning is a detective story in visual novel format set in a dystopian future. You have multiple choices to make during the story which change the way the story pans out. There are no “good” choices: it seems as if all your choices have negative consequences one way or another. There is some light puzzle solving along the way, none of which is overly challenging.
The story plays out quite efficiently and without unnecessary padding or traipsing back and forth between locations, the music is atmospheric and the visuals are suitably gloomy.
There are multiple endings to experience: so far I have only encountered one and haven’t been inclined to revisit the game for another ending. It’s also worth mentioning that the game’s English translation isn’t perfect with quite a lot of bad grammar and the odd spelling mistake to be found.
What They Say:
Follow the story of Mordred Foley, an unscrupulous private detective haunted by his dark past, and look into a series of macabre serial killings inspired by Greek mythology.
