Mystery Box: Hidden Secrets (Nintendo Switch 2)

Publisher: Ocean Media

What I Paid: $3.00

Verdict: Not Shovelware. Game-Breaking Bug.

What I Say:

Mystery Box: Hidden Secrets is the first in a series of puzzle games revolving around the concept of manipulating a box in 3D with puzzles on 3 of the faces of the box. A secondary objective is to find the hidden tile in each puzzle to unlock a scrambled image of a 20th century invention.

Some of the puzzles are less than intuitive and navigation is clunky: you can rotate the box but to work on a specific puzzle you have to zoom in. Whilst zoomed it, you cannot rotate the cube. This game is clearly a fairly basic port from a mouse-based platform. Hints are plentiful but not always helpful.

Frustratingly, there is a game-breaking bug preventing you from completing every puzzle: Glass Box Level 2 is unsolvable because the rotating wheel can only be moved to one location and you need to access two locations to solve the puzzle.

What They Say:

This is a puzzle game where you have to solve intriguing riddles around different boxes and discover some cool stories about popular inventions!
To unlock the boxes of this escape room game, you have to interact with objects, handles, buttons, and wheels on each side.
You can find puzzle pieces on the side of the boxes as well.
Once you open all 8 boxes of a Level Pack, you’ll be able to compose a puzzle and find out a brief history of the discovered invention.
