Verdict: Not Shovelware. 100%ed it. Game-breaking bug.
What I Say:
The murder of a scientist sees our non-identical twin detectives visit many, many locations (this is a relatively long game), play many, many mini-games and solve many, many varied hidden object puzzles to get to the final denouement.
Gameplay is hampered by cheesy voice acting, lots of moon logic puzzles, an implausible storyline, frequent tiny hitboxes for actions and unnecessarily convoluted hidden object puzzles. Add to that the resetting of the collectible count if you restart and the game-breaking bug in the latter 2/3rds of the main game and I found finishing the game more of a chore than a pleasure.
Technically I didn’t 100% this game since not all of the purchasable items of furniture are on display but I’d need to replay both the main game and the quite long bonus chapter BEFORE I spent any tickets and I just can’t face doing this yet again. I did find all the tickets and the other collectibles in both the main game and the bonus game so I consider it ‘job done’.
To preserve your sanity, the aforementioned game-breaking bug is described herewith (light spoiler alert): if you exit the third handbag close-up before you take out the magnet you cannot finish the game as the magnet is required to progress and exiting this close-up removes the handbag from your inventory.
